A Farewell to Arms: A Brief Review


Beginning January of 2014, I resolved to read one Hemingway book each month. I have just finished the first of 12, A Farewell to Arms. It is, to me, a book about Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. It is about the unflagging devastation of war and human violence. It is also about optimism in the face of horror and how, when the time comes to feel pain, nothing ultimately helps, not from above nor here down below.
